(Re)Source – towards a culturally sensitive approach to our relationship with the river, supporting renewed water management and participatory governance
Toutes les initiativesWater & Rivers of Bretagne was born from a grassroots movement to defend the region’s rivers in the face of increasing water pollution and the decline of iconic species such as salmon. Since its inception, the association has been committed to protecting aquatic environments, raising public awareness, and improving water management policies in Bretagne.
Historically, Water & Rivers of Bretagne has developed strong ties with the Abers estuary region and the Scorff river basin, two emblematic areas facing environmental challenges related to water quality and the preservation of aquatic ecosystems. The association has undertaken various initiatives in these areas.
These territories are now serving as pilot areas for the (Re)Source project, which aims to rethink the relationship between local communities and their rivers through a participatory and culturally sensitive approach. The project leverages Water & Rivers’ long-standing presence in these areas to mobilize local stakeholders, strengthen participatory water governance, and explore new ways to value these ecosystems.
