Eco-friendly river and coastal transport in West Africa
Toutes les initiativesThe project presented by Jiri Services aims to develop a comprehensive offering for greening shipping in West Africa through a partnership between three complementary organizations.
The initiative aims to equip boats with solar panels and electric motors, offering an environmentally friendly and economical alternative to the modes of shipping commonly used in West Africa. This innovative solution reduces CO2 emissions by cutting fuel and timber consumption, lowers costs for operators and users, and creates local jobs in the design, installation, and maintenance of solar-powered boats.
This is a two- to three-year pilot phase that will enable the consortium to refine the terms and conditions for developing the electric motorization market in West Africa before considering scaling up based on the identified potential.
The project aims to equip at least five boats in the two countries (Senegal and Mali) for various uses (transport of goods and people, tourism and leisure, etc.).
