"Mali Propre Mon Combat"

The Mali Propre Mon Combat initiative is simple: it encourages the population to clean up streets and public places and adopt new behaviors to prevent pollution of the river, which has become the main dumping ground for solid waste and wastewater. The river supports most of the activities that take place in Mali; the water is used for drinking water supply, rice cultivation, irrigation, navigation, and fishing. This initiative aims to raise awareness among the population about the critical state of unsanitary conditions in Mali and the risks of disease and pandemics in the first phase, and then to organize collective clean-up days and set up an effective waste collection and management system similar to those in developed countries.
