Irrigate education in Kpondavé
Toutes les initiativesThis project is led by “Dynam’eau”. The project aims to sustainably improve access to drinking water, hygiene and sanitation for the public primary school and the inhabitants of the village of Kpondavé, located in the commune of Aklakou (Lake Prefecture, Maritime Region, Togo), along the Mono River, main source of water in the village.
A borehole equipped with an electric pump powered by photovoltaic panels will be constructed to provide reliable and sustainable drinking water resources. The water quality will be checked by chemical and bacteriological analyses, with further treatment if necessary.
Four sanitary blocks of 16 toilets, separated for girls, boys and adults, will be built and equipped with sinks and an outdoor fountain. The wastewater will be treated through an autonomous sanitation system (water tank and infiltration area) before being discharged into the Mono River.
A superstructure supporting the photovoltaic panels and a 6 m3 reservoir will allow to supply by gravity the toilets as well as two public fountains of the village.
Awareness-raising activities on hygiene and menstrual health will be carried out among students and the community, while a local water management committee will be set up and trained to ensure the maintenance and sustainability of the facilities.
Finally, an education component on citizenship and international solidarity will be developed in Bordeaux, through a twinning between the Albert Barraud school and that of Kpondavé, promoting exchanges between students.
