Protection of the biodiversity of the Tinkisso basin upstream of the hydroelectric dam in Dabola prefecture

This project is supported by the Action for Poverty Reduction and Humanitarian Assistance “ARPAH”. The main objective of the project to protect the Tinkisso river basin upstream of the Tinkisso hydroelectric dam in Dabola Prefecture is:

Contribute to the fight against all forms of degradation of natural resources in the Tinkisso basin upstream of the hydroelectric dam.

The expected results:

X groups formed are equipped and fully operational;

X trained and equipped beekeepers produce honey;

75% of the populations in the basin upstream of the dam raise awareness about the issues facing the river and its basin;

X hectares restored on the headwaters of the river and its main tributaries;

X linear meters are clear in the bed of the Tinkisso River.

The main activities of the project:

1-vegetable production;

2-beekeeping production;

3- information, awareness-raising on the issues of the river and its basin upstream from the dam;

4- restoration of the vegetation cover of the headwaters of the river and its main tributaries;

5- clearing of the riverbed in heavily obstructed areas

6-establishment and capacity building of natural resource management groups
