Gradual restoration and adaptive management of the Donezan wetlands (09) in a mountain area subject to climate change

Toutes les initiatives

The project aims to restore the ecological and hydrological functionality of high-altitude wetlands located in the Donezan, environments particularly sensitive to climate change. These headwater wetlands play a key role in regulating water and hosting specialized biodiversity.

The actions consist of restoring degraded habitats (reopening, restoration), adapting pastoral practices and reducing human pressures. The project will help to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems and sustainably preserve associated species.

The project is based on an existing territorial dynamic and on the expertise of ANA CEN Ariège in wetland management. The proposed actions are immediately operational and reproducible on other mountain sites. They directly contribute to the adaptation of ecosystems to climate change by strengthening water storage and regulation capacity.
