The Rios Online project is a citizen science initiative created to establish a relationship between local residents and academics in the Amazon. This relationship creates a synergy that helps both actors learn to be resilient in the face of the real-life scenario of extreme hydroclimatic events, such as the one that occurred in 2023. A group of volunteers support a social network that uses the Internet to exchange knowledge and information about rivers with several communities. They also use face-to-face events such as photographic exhibitions, on-site conversation pools, short lectures and other on-site approaches to establish the desired relationship. They seek answers to the most pressing questions faced by river communities with suggestions shared by several groups on how to be resilient to the real scenario in several parts of the Amazon.
