Improving protection of the Nyabarongo river watershed

Project objectives of the Women for Water and Climate Cooperation Network (WWCCN) :
Strengthen the protection of the Nyabarongo river watershed to :

• Save the endangered Nyabarongo River
• Community livelihood resilience
• Biodiversity conservation.

Forests are known as natural filters and purifiers of water and ecosystem greening: by planting agroforestry trees and reforesting the Nyabarongo watershed with local communities, the project will contribute to restoring the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems around the river, significantly improving water quality by reducing the quantities of pollutants (sewage, mining, waste dumping).
