All the news9th session IFGR in China: Fruitful discussions about biodiversity, through the example of the Yellow River
IFGR gathered for the first time its experts in Asia, at the invitation of the Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) last October. At the head of a delegation of forty people, the chairman Erik Orsenna, applauded the high-quality of the discussions about biodiversity and the extremely rapid progress made in China to preserve the environment. Known for its devastating floods and recently for its drought, the Yellow River has always been a difficult river to control. An important success has been achieved: the river no longer kills but a new battle is now engaged to preserve life. Faced with the urgency of a massive extinction of biodiversity, building together the knowledge needed for transitions, sharing solutions to avoid to make the same mistakes, involving as many people as possible in the development of a common history are three essential objectives. That’s the essence of our debates and our will to bring a contribution for rivers and biodiversity to the World Nature Summit and COP15 in 2020.
