The Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) has identified 230 rivers that flow constantly, as well as an additional 310 to 405 rivers that flow only during the summer months. However, the National River Conservation Commission (NRCC) gives a figure of 907 rivers, a figure that has raised controversy for methodological reasons. The British newspaper, The Guardian, has reported about 700 rivers in Bangladesh, according to the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 .
These fascinating disparities encompass not only numerical divergences, but also the complexities of categorisation, nomenclature, and seasonal variations. This underlines the need for a complete and inclusive approach to understand and document these vital natural resources!
