IFGR met in April at Saint-Louis and Dakar at the invitation of the Organisation for the Development of the River Senegal (OMVS), one of its members. The objective was to review its river navigation project in the light of the various competences and experiences provided by the association.
“A remarkable contribution to improving the structural project to develop navigation on the River Senegal”, according to Hamed Semaga, the High Commissioner. The recommendations will be taken into account in the project road map. The aim was to ensure the success of the project at every level (economic, environmental, societal) and to make it a lever for the development of the territories crossed by the river.
In addition, IFGR proposed to pursue this joint work during the final preparatory phases of the project and its launching. This collaborative approach specific to our association, and its result, may be presented at the upcoming World Water Forum to be held at Dakar in 2021.
