All the newsFrom 30 June to 2 July - LYON: Festival Between Rhone and Saone.
The 2nd edition of the Festival Between Rhone and Soane will be held on Friday 30 June, Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July 2023. It invites visitors to look at rivers more closely, to respect them more, discover them, and protect them.
For 3 days and 2 evenings, Lyon will hum with more than 340 events organised by numerous actors of the region: associations, artists, the City’s cultural institutions, sponsor companies, and the inhabitants themselves. The aim of the festival is the same: rekindle links with Lyon’s fluvial history, in order to reconnect the population with their rivers, physically and symbolically, with the desire to spread awareness of the dangers that threaten them.
With the 3 themes of the festival, Celebrate, Protect and Discover, the people of Lyon are invited to participate in the events offered, including parades, the Mâchecroute (legendary dragon), and outdoor bars, and a large number of events proposed in an wide-ranging programme.
The programme with modules for enrolment in the activities can be found on the internet site: Festival Entre Rhône et Saône (entre-rhone-et-saone.fr)
In particular, during the event you can find:
– The IFGR stand on the banks of the Guillotière (from 10 am to 5 pm on 1st of July) Challenges on the world’s rivers – FERES (entre-rhone-et-saone.fr). What animals live on the banks of the Rhone and Saone? Where do rivers draw their sources? Rack your brains and answer trick questions on the rivers of the world. Test your knowledge and learn while having fun!
– Our favourite for this edition: Open letter to a faraway river – FERES (entre-rhone-et-saone.fr) Two actors and two musicians weave a correspondence with the Rhone and trace the history of their relation with the river. After the representation, everyone is invited to participate in a small epistolatory workshop: you too, send a letter to the river of your choice, real or imaginary! By the company Tallaron, on enrolment. The show from 11 to 11.45 am and the workshop until 12.30 pm then from 4 to 4.45 pm followed by the workshop until 5.30 pm.
