Launched at the beginning of the school year in 2016, the “Tell me your river” writing competition was conceived by IFGR to make young people more aware of this little known resource. It consists in offering classes of primary schoolchildren close to different rivers in France and abroad, the opportunity to work creatively on the theme of rivers throughout 2016. The production is rendered by class, but the teachers are free to choose the format (presentation, storytelling, portrait). The project can be adapted to fit in the pedagogic programme of each teacher. A source of creativity, the theme of the river is also a means of linking different disciplines together: geography, French, history, etc.
This first pilot edition is due to bring together from 5 to 10 classes in different regions of France (continental France and overseas territories – Guyana) and elsewhere (Australia).
At the end of the competition in May 2016, the winning class will have the privilege of sailing along the Rhone for two days on a barge.
Are you a teacher in a school located near a river in France or abroad? You can still participate in this first edition of the competition “Tell me your river” by sending your application to this address: marine.thomas@iagf-ifgr.org.
