Global workshop on building climate-resilience through improving water management and sanitation at national and transboundary levels, under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the World Health Organization (WHO - regional office for Europe).
From March 29 to 31, 2021, several UN organizations (UNECE-Secretariat of the Water Convention; WHO and WMO among others) are holding a global workshop on building resilience to climate change.
The workshop will take a holistic perspective on the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events on water resource management, both at national and transboundary level, and on water supply and sanitation systems and ultimately people’s health. It will bring together environment/water and health communities as well as disaster risk and climate change experts to jointly develop best practices in building climate resilience and reducing disaster risk through improving water resource management.
Erik Orsenna will speak at the opening session of this workshop, on behalf of IFGR, to give a voice to rivers and support a global approach between water, climate, biodiversity and health:
Monday, 29 March 2021, from 10.00 to 11.00 am
