IFGR invites you to a discussion on Wednesday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Emma Haziza, hydrologist and president of Mayane, on the topic of "Water and Adaptation to Climate Change".
Emma HAZIZA is a hydrologist and a specialist in territorial resilience strategies in the face of climate risks.
As a multidisciplinary researcher, teacher and lecturer, she is one of the French pioneers in the field of territorial resilience since 2005. She holds a PhD from Ecole des Mines de Paris and has taught for more than ten years in the main Masters and engineering schools in France on the vulnerability of territories to flood risk (University of Montpellier 2, University of Nîmes, ENTPE, Ecole des Mines, Ecole Polytechnique, etc.). Her operational experience in crisis units has also led her to be at the interface of the main actors in charge of hydro-meteorological risk management, being the interlocutor of mayors, prefects and ministries on these issues.
Based on these experiences, she founded Mayane in 2010, a research-action center providing adaptation solutions for cities facing the consequences of climate change. More recently, she co-founded Mayane Labs, a start-up aiming at massifying climate adaptation in buildings.
From hydro-meteorology of torrential events to crisis management governance, including the analysis of the global repercussions of droughts, Emma Haziza seeks to develop preventive strategies and analyzes the possible levers of optimization to better cope with climatic extremes and, thus, enable adaptation. Regularly solicited by the major French and European media, and recognized as an expert in flood, drought, and climate adaptation risk management, she brings a new perspective to the general public on the management of these phenomena.
