Living Lab Restore: Meeting the challenges of river restoration

Toutes les initiatives

The Living Lab (LL) Restore is an initiative supported by the Switch Interdisciplinary Thematic Institute of the University of Strasbourg. The objective is to co-design, test and evaluate in real conditions innovative solutions to meet the challenges of river management and restoration in the context of global changes (climate, ecological and social). Our actions are centered on the Trinational Metropolitan Region of the Upper Rhine (RMT), where we wish to develop sustainable synergies between river practitioners, researchers, users and students from different disciplines for the preservation of rivers We focus our efforts on capitalizing knowledge and initiatives around the Rhine hydrosystem, including the Rhine nature reserves but also urban, peri-urban and headwater rivers.

Our ambitions can be summarized in four points:

Support action research: bring out questions from the territories and mobilize research teams
Knowledge sharing and networking of stakeholders
Participatory approach: actively involve users and stakeholders to propose solutions that meet local needs and make the issues visible
