Rivers sentinels

Sentinelles de Rivières, a subsidized employment company, helps people recruited on subsidized employment contracts to return to work by organizing various maintenance tasks in the Lez watershed in Montpellier (France):

– on the water (by canoe and on foot along the banks of the Lez, Mosson, Rieutord and Rieucoulon rivers) : waste collection, essential to limit pollution at sea and the impact on biodiversity,

– recycling of collected waste: via local players in the circular economy,

– riparian zone maintenance : brush cutting, small-scale pruning, planting to stabilize banks,

– raising awareness among the general public, local residents and schoolchildren: “ecobalads” on foot or by boat.
