All the newsRivers of the world: invitation to travel and stakes for tomorrow
An exceptional evening with Erik Orsenna on the rivers of the world: invitations to travel and the stakes for tomorrow.
Projection of the film “Le fleuve Niger”, written by Erik Orsenna and directed by Joël Calmettes, followed by a discussion with the public.
Speech by Franck Vogel, photographer and author of the book “Fleuves frontières”, in which he uncovers the mysteries of the Nile, the Colorado, the Brahmaputra and the Jordan.
Novel, film, photography: the river in stories
Telling the river of today and tomorrow: such is the ambition of this evening marked by several remarkable events. From a novel (L’Exposition coloniale, by E. Orsenna) to a film (Le fleuve Niger), not to forget photographs (Fleuves Frontières, by Franck Vogel), the conference will be punctuated by the different relations that the two guests enjoy with rivers: stories told using different media, paths of exploration, the birthplaces of civilisations and their cultures, and geopolitical stakes crucial for the years to come.
Freeing the river through art and travel
In 2016, IFGR decided to become a partner of the festival Quais du départ to carry on its mission of spreading awareness among all those who use rivers. Two weeks after being invited to the COP22 of Marrakech, and in parallel with IFGR’s actions in schools, this evening marked a new occasion for debate on these resources that have always inspired travellers and storytellers from every horizon.
