Emergences, water festival

The village of Aramon lies on the banks of the Rhône, and its history has always been linked to the river, a source of benefits and wealth (sediment, fishing, transport…) but also of misfortune and danger, with regular flooding that has long gone unchecked. Faced with this observation and the growing tensions over water resources in the region, the Emergences association has come up with the idea of creating an annual event dedicated to water, a place to understand and learn about the climatic and economic issues surrounding water, the consequences for our daily lives and the future of the younger generations, and to better prepare for the necessary ecological transition. Launched in September 2022 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the tragic floods that struck the Gard region and the village of Aramon in 2002, Emergences Festival de l’Eau proposes to tackle the issue of water through artistic practices, meetings and round-table discussions with partners involved in water management, in often little-known areas of the village.

Created by the residents of Aramon, witnesses and victims of disasters, but also of changes to their territory over the years, the festival takes over the village and its spaces for 3 days, with entertainment, concerts and “guinguettes” on the banks of the river. Edition 2024 : September 13 to 15.
