Project to support concerted management of the Congo River maritime reach

The project to support concerted management of the marine reach is part of the IDEL association’s program for the Protection and Preservation of Marine Ecosystems, and is in line with the goal of achieving MDG 14. The project aims to ensure responsible, respectful and sustainable use by all stakeholders in the area (oil companies, fishermen, public services, surrounding communities, shipping companies, etc.). Specifically, it will involve (i) setting up a framework for stakeholder consultation on ecological management of the river, and (ii) improving the use of fishery resources and protection of the marine environment by coastal communities and other stakeholders.
