Toutes les initiatives

The project “Integrated Agro-Ecological Systems of Senegal – Guinea-Bissau River Basins” aims to strengthen the resilience of local communities by developing sustainable market gardens along rivers, rice fields, and lowlands.funds, combined with the installation of ecological fish ponds in already fenced areas.

Led by the COSGAPE Consortium, this cross-border project promotes integrated management of water and soil resources in the basins shared between Senegal and Guinea-Bissau. It contributes to food security, income diversification, reduction of pressure on river ecosystems and adaptation to climate change.

The model is based on agroecology, surface water harvesting, lowland development, and complementarity between agriculture and fish farming. It includes a community awareness component on the protection of riverbanks and sustainable water management.

The project aims to become a reproducible model for the balanced management of river uses in West Africa.
